Dippin' Dots Global named official ice cream of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010

[Lexington, Kentucky] — Alltech and the World Games Foundation have announced that Dippin’ Dots Global is the official ice cream of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.

Often called the “Ice Cream of the Future,” Dippin’ Dots are tiny, cryogenically frozen beads of ice cream, yogurt, sherbet, and flavored ice. Invented in 1988 by microbiologist and entrepreneur Curt Jones, Dippin' Dots offers more than 20 flavors. The product’s broad flavor availability and versatility allow the ice cream to be layered, mixed, and shaken, and inclusions can be easily added.  Dippin’ Dots Global also creates flavors specific to countries around the world, tailoring the ice cream to local tastes.

“In recent surveys, Dippin’ Dots has been voted the most popular ice cream among children in the 8-18 age bracket. Also, 73% of adults surveyed said that Dippin’ Dots are more fun than any other hand-scooped brand,” said Jones. A recent survey in Mexico offered children a choice of ice creams available for purchase, and of those surveyed, 97% said they would purchase Dippin’ Dots over the other ice cream options.

Alltech’s and Dippin’ Dots’ financial and worldwide scopes facilitate an accelerated international growth strategy for the ice cream. Satellite manufacturing plants are strategically located to take advantage of free trade agreements and local resources.  Following Korea and Canada, Mexico will be the third country other than the United States to implement local Dippin’ Dots production. This follows not only the successful launch of the product in Mexico, but also the fact that the company is at an advanced stage of negotiations with one of the major food companies in Mexico. The general manager of Mexican operations, Jeffrey Vanier, commented that Dippin’ Dots is now available in 100 locations in Mexico and a patent is currently pending on the product.

Dippin’ Dots continues to bring innovation to the ice cream industry. The free-flowing beads of ice cream, sherbets, and flavored ice are now available through conventional ice cream distribution channels and can be stored in home freezers.  Previously, the ice cream had to be stored at temperatures well-below that of an average freezer and was therefore not available for home purchase.

According to Jones, there will be 40 outlets selling Dippin’ Dots at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.
