Animal Nutrition Company Appoints David Byrne

David Byrne
David Byrne, former European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Protection has
joined Alltech's board as
a non-executive director.

[Dublin, IRELAND] - Global animal nutrition company Alltech, has announced that David Byrne, former European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Protection has joined its board as a non-executive director.

Within the animal health sector, Alltech is recognised as a leader in quality assurance and traceability, with the company’s reputation reposing on the AQS - Alltech Quality System. The appointment of Byrne strengthens this commitment to global traceability and quality in the feed industry. Byrne was instrumental in the establishment of European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and European Centre for Disease Control (ECDC). Dr. Pearse Lyons, Alltech president said that, "Alltech has been, and always will be committed to feed safety, quality and traceability."

Some of the key concerns of consumers globally are the safety of the complete food chain from safe animal feed to safe food supplies. These are the issues which are at the forefront of the feed industry. By focusing on these issues, Alltech aims to assist the feed industry and its clients in dramatically shaping the evolution of the feed industry in to the next decade and beyond.

Alltech has embraced efforts to standardise systems of quality assurance by taking advantage of these legislative developments worldwide and developing its own code of practice. Prior to establishing its own Alltech Quality System (AQS), Alltech benchmarked all the global, legislative, quality and safety requirements being implemented. AQS ensures that all products are produced to the highest standards to ensure consistency and can therefore, be used in the feed industry with complete assurance.

Alltech’s manufacturing and warehouse facilities meet the globally accepted standards of HACCP, as well as regionally and locally accepted standards. Regional certifications received by Alltech include Safe Food/Safe Feed in North America and European Feed Additives and Premixtures Quality System (FAMI-QS). Alltech also has ISO Certification in Mexico and China.
