Alltech's Continued Growth Leads to New Facilities across North America

[Lexington, KENTUCKY] – Alltech, a global leader in animal health and nutrition, has continued to grow at a rate that has made it necessary to expand its facilities in North America. In 2007, the company opened three new regional facilities, made enormous strides on a new research facility and announced its plans for a state-of-the-art rural community biorefinery.

Last year, the company cut the ribbon on two new facilities in Georgia and South Dakota. The seven-acre site in Thomasville, Georgia houses a quality assurance laboratory and distribution warehouse, while the Brookings, South Dakota office sits on 27 acres and is home to a ruminant physiology laboratory, distribution warehouse and manufacturing facility. Alltech also opened a biotechnology production facility and warehouse in Clovis, New Mexico.

In addition, Alltech has expanded the facilities at its corporate headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky with the addition of the Center for Animal Nutrigenomics and Applied Animal Nutrition. The facility will give researchers the ability to examine nutrition at the genetic level, studying the impact of nutrition on the gene.

In October 2007, the company learned that it would receive funding from the Commonwealth of Kentucky to create a rural community biorefinery in Springfield, Kentucky. This is the first such model in North America that integrates feed, food and fuel production.  In addition to ethanol production, the biorefinery will provide value added products through secondary fermentation.

"Alltech continues to grow at an astounding rate, and as we do so, it’s important reinvest our resources to ensure that we have the state-of-the-art facilities and cutting edge technology that will continue to enable us to deliver the highest quality products to our customers and our industry," said Dr. Pearse Lyons, president and founder of Alltech.

"We feel it’s incredibly important to have offices across various regions because it keeps us in tune with what’s going on in the marketplace and allows us to remain on the forefront of change. It is for this reason that Alltech is so passionate about thinking on a global scale while acting locally," Dr. Lyons went on to say.

Alltech’s mission is to improve animal health and performance by adding nutritional value to animal feed and, through this, enhance the performance of the animal and increase animal production. Since it was founded 28 years ago, the company has developed a strong regional presence throughout the world with 1,800 employees and a presence in 113 countries.

Alltech will host its 24th International Animal Health and Nutrition Symposium, focusing on the ‘Greenest Generation’, April 20-23, 2008 in Lexington, Kentucky, USA. For more information on Alltech or Symposium, log on to www.alltech.com/symposium.
